I’m a South African veterinarian with a deep passion for understanding the "why" behind animal behavior. Since 2018, I’ve focused exclusively on veterinary clinical behaviour medicine (or animal psychiatry) through my consultancy Pets at Play. Prior to that, my career has taken me from the front lines of disease control for state veterinary services in the Western Cape to the lecture halls of the University of Pretoria and Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute.
Whether I’m consulting for Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Humane World for Animals, or serving on the Cart Horse Protection Association management committee, my goal is always the same: advocating for the mental, emotional and physical well-being of our animals. I love sharing what I’ve learned through CPD-accredited webinars and talks in the veterinary industry, focusing on animal welfare, holistic animal guardianship, cooperative care and the human-animal bond.
Home for me is the beautiful Cape Winelands, where life is a chaotic but happy whirlwind with my husband, toddler, dog, cats, ducks, pony and guinea pigs. When I’m not talking about animal behaviour, you’ll likely find me trying to hit some low notes with my community choir, getting lost in a good book, or working on a new crochet project.
