Walkies!

Walkies According to a study carried out by PDSA, 7 per cent of dogs get no regular walks at all and 26 per cent get less than 30 minutes a day. The consequences are rising levels of canine obesity and conditions such as arthritis and diabetes. This September the charity will run a nationwide sponsored dog walk to encourage pet owners to get out and about with their dogs. PDSA Walkies is supported by Hill’s and is part of the charity’s ‘long live pets’ campaign.

Any animal lover, or veterinary practice can apply for an information pack from PDSA and organise a dog walk – large or small – to raise money for the charity. Why not take part as a practice team or arrange an event for your clients and local dog owners? The information pack contains everything you need, from posters, stickers, poop-scoop bags and certificates for successful completion of the walk.

In the north east a flagship walk has been arranged on Sunday 13th September at Roker Park in Sunderland, to support the capital appeal for the new PetAid hospital in the city, so if you live in the area and would like to get involved, do contact PDSA and offer your assistance.
